Self-sabotage can look like procrastination, perfectionism, people-pleasing, overthinking, avoidance, difficulty following through, or repeatedly making choices that conflict with what you consciously want.
But I don't view self-sabotage as evidence that you're lazy, unmotivated, or lacking willpower.
Often, the behavior makes more sense when we understand what it may be protecting.
Throughout life, experiences can teach us certain rules about what we need to do - or who we need to be - to feel safe, accepted, loved, successful, or worthy. A pattern that once helped you adapt can continue operating automatically even when your circumstances have changed.
The work isn't simply about stopping the behavior. It's about understanding what the pattern is trying to accomplish for you so you can begin responding from conscious choice rather than old conditioning.
A subconscious rule is an internal conclusion you may have formed from past experiences about how you need to navigate life.
For example:
Keep the peace so people won't be upset with me.
Don't make mistakes or I'll be judged.
I have to take care of everyone.
It's safer not to draw attention to myself.
I need to prove my worth.
You probably didn't consciously decide to live according to these rules. They developed through experience and repetition and may have once been highly adaptive.
The difficulty comes when an old rule continues influencing your choices long after the circumstances that created it have changed.
Bringing these rules into awareness allows you to ask a very different question:
Does this still belong in the life I'm creating now?
A protective identity is a version of yourself you learned to become because, at some point, being that person served an important purpose.
You may have become the Achiever, the Caretaker, the Peacekeeper, the Strong One, the Fixer, the Responsible One, or the Perfectionist.
These identities aren't inherently bad. In fact, many contain qualities that have contributed enormously to your success.
The goal isn't to eliminate those parts of yourself.
It's to recognize when an identity has shifted from being something you can consciously access to something you feel you must continually be.
When you no longer need an identity to protect your worth, safety, or belonging, you gain the freedom to keep its strengths without being governed by its rules.
Self-leadership is the ability to recognize what's happening within you and consciously choose your response rather than automatically reacting from an old pattern.
It doesn't mean never feeling triggered, uncertain, afraid, or uncomfortable.
It means developing enough awareness and self-trust to pause and ask:
Is this response coming from who I am today or from something I learned I needed to be in the past?
Over time, repeated conscious choices become evidence that you can trust yourself. That evidence strengthens identity, and what initially requires intentional effort gradually becomes a more natural way of being.
That's where change moves from something you're trying to do into something you're beginning to embody.
Mindset matters, but I don't believe lasting transformation comes from simply replacing a negative thought with a positive one or forcing new behaviors on top of old beliefs.
My approach looks beneath the visible pattern.
Depending on what you're experiencing, we may explore emotional experiences, subconscious rules, beliefs, protective identities, self-sabotaging patterns, and the ways these continue influencing your present-day choices.
Rather than asking only, “How do we change this behavior?” we also ask:
“Why might this pattern make sense?”
Understanding the protective function of a pattern often allows us to work with it differently; without shame, force, or an ongoing battle against yourself.
The ultimate goal is greater awareness, self-trust, and conscious self-leadership.
They address different layers of transformation.
Emotion Code® & Heart-Wall Release is an energy-based modality focused primarily on identifying and releasing emotional energy associated with past experiences.
The Purpose Embodiment Project is a coaching process focused on understanding subconscious rules and protective identities, increasing emotional awareness and capacity, strengthening self-trust, and developing conscious self-leadership.
One asks: "What might I still be carrying?"
The other asks: "What is unconsciously leading me and, who am I choosing to become now?"
You may benefit from one approach independently, or the two may complement one another.
No.
Emotion Code® & Heart-Wall Release and The Purpose Embodiment Project are separate services, and neither is a prerequisite for the other.
Some clients are primarily interested in emotional release. Others are ready to explore the deeper patterns and identities shaping their lives. And for some, emotional release naturally complements their coaching work.
We'll consider where you are, what you're experiencing, and what you hope to change when deciding which approach makes the most sense for you.
You don't need to figure that out before contacting me.
If you're carrying an experience that still feels emotionally charged, are interested specifically in energy work, or feel drawn toward releasing emotional material from the past, Emotion Code® & Heart-Wall Release may be a good place to begin.
If you're noticing repeating patterns, questioning who you are in this stage of life, struggling to trust your own choices, or feeling that an old version of yourself no longer fits, The Purpose Embodiment Project may be the better fit.
If you're unsure, that's exactly what we can explore during a discovery conversation.
My work is especially suited to women who have spent much of their lives being capable, responsible, productive, or focused on the needs and expectations around them—and have reached a point where something no longer feels aligned.
You may have created a successful life and still find yourself wondering:
Who am I now?
Why do I keep repeating this pattern?
What do I actually want?
Why is it so difficult to choose differently when I know better?
What would my life look like if I weren't making decisions from obligation, fear, proving, pleasing, or old expectations?
You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from this work.
Sometimes the clearest signal is simply recognizing that the person you've needed to be is no longer the person you want leading your life.
No. Coaching and therapy can both be valuable, but they serve different purposes.
My coaching work focuses on awareness, patterns, identity, self-leadership, and creating intentional change in your present life and future direction. Although past experiences may arise because they help us understand how a pattern developed, coaching is not psychotherapy and does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions.
Emotion Code® and other energy-based approaches I offer are also not substitutes for medical or mental health care.
If your needs fall outside the scope of coaching, I will encourage you to seek support from an appropriately licensed healthcare or mental health professional.
Yes. Coaching and Emotion Code® sessions can be conducted virtually, allowing us to work together regardless of location.
We'll discuss the format and what to expect before your first session so you feel comfortable with the process.
A discovery call is an opportunity for us to talk about what you're experiencing, what you would like to change, and what you're hoping to create moving forward.
I'll ask questions to better understand the patterns or challenges you're noticing, and we'll explore whether my approach is a good fit for what you need.
There is no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what's wrong or even exactly what you want.
Sometimes knowing “I don't want to keep doing it this way” is enough of a place to begin.
Start with a complimentary discovery call.
We'll talk about where you are, what's bringing you to coaching, and which approach may best support you.
You don't need to have your next chapter figured out before you begin.
The first step is simply becoming curious about what's been leading you—and whether you're ready to choose differently.
